Privacy Policy

Vela (“we,” “us,” “our”) is operated by Joeul LLC. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Vela app and website, how we use it, and your choices.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture as provided by Google. If you sign up with email and password, we collect the display name you choose.

Usage information. We keep track of what you watch, which series you favorite, and your coin balance and transaction history, so the app works correctly across your devices.

Purchase information. Payments are processed by Google Play (mobile) or Stripe (web). We do not receive or store your card number or other raw payment details. We store only the result: what you purchased, when, and your resulting coin or subscription balance.

Content you upload. If you submit a series as a creator, we store the title, description, genre tags, and video files you provide, along with your account as the identified creator.

We do not collect your location, contacts, or any data from your device beyond what is described above.

How we use your information

• To provide and operate the service (playback, unlocking episodes, subscriptions)
• To process payments and maintain accurate coin and subscription balances
• To review and moderate user-submitted content
• To communicate with you about your account, such as password resets
• To maintain the security and integrity of the service

We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

We use the following providers to operate Vela, each of which processes data on our behalf and under its own privacy policy:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
• Mux — video hosting, transcoding, and streaming
• Stripe — payment processing for web purchases
• Google Play — payment processing for mobile purchases and subscriptions
• Google — if you choose to sign in with Google
• Vercel — website hosting

Data retention

We retain your account and usage information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain records, such as transaction records kept for tax or legal purposes.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at info@joeul.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

Children’s privacy

Vela is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above when we do.
